taxes

Today, I finished organizing my '08 taxes. The five hours I spent peeling through layers of Paypal was as dry as.. as dead grass.
I have discovered a few interesting things about my spending habits though- my favorite splurges are on other people's hand-prepared spinning fibers or on farm-fresh alpaca. I'm taking the rest of the evening to mull over the results and re-calculate both expenditures and profit.

It was the whole "doing the taxes" thing that made my stomach sink. I didn't make a fortune on jewelry and craft shows last year BUT I did make enough to have really made a dent in my student loans. I had nothing to show for that (except a ton of cool handmade things I've bought along the way). I'm doing better this year with saving AND keeping up with sales, expenses, etc for next January :)

Erin,
Last year I was finally able to dent my student loans too. I noticed a HUGE change, however, between the first two months of this year and last year- may '09 be extra awesome to both of us!

yeah, taxes... this is something I should be doing myself at the moment (first time with the yarns), but I have no clue where to start. Luckily my parents will be over to advise me on it. I also tried to create a little excel sheet and then got stuck with paypal. ugh.

congrats on keeping up the regular posts btw!
